Planned on giving this to husband as part of Christmas gift, when the 9 year old with the December birthday mentioned something about getting new hot sauces. Frequently asked questions
What comes in each box?
One or three full-size bottles of craft hot sauce picked for your heat level, with a tasting note card for each. No minis, and no repeats from your past boxes. If you've been a member before, tick "I'm a returning subscriber" on the last step so we skip what you've already had.
How much does it cost?
$17.99 a box for one bottle or $34.99 for three, and Extra Hot adds $2 a bottle. Shipping is free in the US. Prepay 3, 6 or 12 months (or 4 quarters) and you also get a freebie: a pepper flake sample, ½ oz of pepper powder or a bonus bottle.
Can I give a hot sauce subscription as a gift?
Yes. Tick "This is a gift" on the last step and write a message. We print it and put it in the first box, with no prices. Pick the day the first box ships, like one of our holiday ship days. Use their address for shipping and your own email. We don't email them unless you ask us to, so the surprise is safe.
Prepay 3, 6 or 12 months and pick "Don't renew" for a gift that ends on its own. Giving it in person? Print a gift certificate.
What if I don't have the recipient's address?
Pick January 1 as the ship date and use your own address for now, then send us theirs by December 30.
If you only have their email, an e-gift card works for anything in the shop, including the club, and you choose the day it's emailed.
When does my box ship?
Your first box ships within 1 to 2 business days, or on the date you pick. After that, boxes ship on the 1st of the month.
If you sign up by the 16th, your second box ships on the next 1st (sign up December 4, second box January 1). Sign up on the 17th or later and it ships on the 1st after that (sign up December 20, second box February 1). For a gift with a ship date, count from that date. Transit usually takes 2 to 6 business days.
When am I charged?
When you sign up, for the first box (or the whole prepaid term). After that your plan renews on the 23rd, about a week before the box ships on the 1st. That week gives us time to sort out a card problem or a new address.
Do boxes auto-renew?
Monthly and quarterly plans keep going until you cancel. For prepaid plans you choose at sign-up: "Keep it going" renews at the end of the term, "Don't renew" ends after the last box with no more charges. We email you before a prepaid plan renews.
If you cancel right after signing up, your first box still ships.
Can I skip, pause, cancel or change my heat level?
Yes. Sign in to your account to skip a box, pause, cancel, or change your heat level or shipping address. You can also message us by chat or email.
Can I choose my sauces?
No. You choose the heat level and we choose the sauces; trying things you wouldn't have picked is half the fun.
If you'd rather choose, members get free shipping across all 700+ sauces in our shop, and we're happy to recommend some.
Do you ship outside the US?
Yes. Canada adds $9.99 a box for 1 bottle or $19.99 for 3. Other countries add $14.99 or $29.99. International transit times vary, so we can't promise a delivery date.
Can I get vegan or gluten-free sauces, or avoid an allergy?
Yes. On the last step, tick Vegan or Gluten-free, or tell us what to avoid. We check every sauce's full ingredient list before your box ships.

Who We Are
We are two chileheads on a mission to share our passion for all things spicy. In 2012, we started Heat Hot Sauce Shop in Berkeley, where we offered daily tastings at our hot sauce tasting bar. Our experience giving tastings, going to hot sauce expos, and trying thousands of hot sauces has given us insight into flavors people like, and that experience informs our monthly selections for the Hot Sauce of the Month Club.
